What happened: Dodd was announced as the starter for Game 1 on Saturday. The assignment puts him at the front of a postseason series.

Why it matters: A Game 1 starter call matters in October because it shapes bullpen usage and the pitching order for the rest of the series. In a short playoff set, the opening outing can quickly change how the next games are managed.

What to watch: Watch how deep Dodd is asked to work before the bullpen enters. The rest of the series rotation should become clearer once Game 1 is underway.
