What happened: Veteran reporter Ed Werder stated it would not surprise him if the Dallas Cowboys owner reached out to the former head coach for schematic advice. Werder noted that Jones has long respected Lewis's defensive intellect.

Why it matters: Lewis recently conducted a film analysis of the Dallas Cowboys' schematic breakdowns. Werder suggested a direct conversation between the two is necessary to address the situation.

By the numbers: The unit is yielding 168 rushing yards per game and allowing a 120 opposing passer rating. Dallas has ranked 32nd in key metrics over a 22-game sample size following the Micah Parsons trade.

What to watch: The Cowboys will attempt to correct their defensive issues during upcoming practices.
