What happened: Ed Werder pointed to a coaching resume that includes leading the Atlanta Falcons to the Super Bowl and later guiding the Washington Commanders to the conference championship game. Those two postseason runs bookended a coaching tenure in Dallas.

Why it matters: Few coaches have taken multiple franchises to conference title games on either side of a coordinator stop. Atlanta's Super Bowl LI appearance and Washington's championship game berth remain the defining postseason benchmarks across those three stops.

What to watch: Washington continues its 2026 regular-season schedule Monday night against the San Francisco 49ers.
