What happened: ESPN is in advanced talks to add Jason Kidd to its NBA studio coverage, per TheSteinLine. Kidd was fired by Dallas in May after five seasons, two weeks after Masai Ujiri was hired as president of basketball operations.

Why it matters: A studio chair would keep Kidd on a national stage while Dallas resets under Ujiri ahead of the 2026-27 season. The Mavericks have expanded camp to 20 players and traveled to Macao for preseason play.

What to watch: Watch for ESPN to confirm terms and a debut date. Dallas continues preseason preparations under its new leadership structure.
