What happened: ESPN announced that WWE Backlash will stream Saturday, May 9 on the ESPN App, accessible to subscribers with an ESPN Unlimited plan. The event marks another premium WWE pay-per-view distributed through ESPN's direct-to-consumer service. Promotion of the card has ramped up across ESPN's social channels this week.

Why it matters: The placement underscores ESPN's expanding role as a home for WWE premium live events, deepening the Disney-WWE distribution relationship. For fans, ESPN Unlimited becomes the gateway to Backlash rather than a traditional PPV buy or a separate streaming service. It also signals ESPN's continued push to bundle marquee combat-sports and entertainment programming inside its app.

What to watch: Watch for the final Backlash card announcement and any additional ESPN Unlimited promotional pushes ahead of Saturday's broadcast.
