What happened: Fred Warner beat an offensive lineman with a sidestep in space. The rep surfaced while San Francisco sat unbeaten at 3-0.

Why it matters: Fred Warner anchors the middle of a defense playing without core starters. He drew praise from Kyle Shanahan this week and was named the premier active linebacker by Luke Kuechly.

By the numbers: Drafted 70th overall in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft out of BYU. Per ESPN as of Sept. 29, 2026, Warner made 51 tackles in 6 games in 2025.

What to watch: Watch whether San Francisco continues to lean on Warner in the middle as the regular season advances.
