What happened: MLB Network analyst Greg ranked Freddy Peralta No. 1 among trade deadline acquisitions when factoring in postseason performance, followed by Tyler Mahle at No. 2 and Tarik Skubal at No. 3. Liam Hicks placed fourth, Jo Adell fifth, and JoJo Romero sixth on the nine-player board. Luis Garcia Jr. landed at No. 7, Lars Nootbaar took No. 8, and Tyler Wells rounded out the group at No. 9.

Why it matters: Peralta's top billing reflects his October surge in Tampa after capturing ALCS MVP honors to send the Rays to the Fall Classic. The evaluation also underscores contrasting deadline approaches ahead of the World Series, as Milwaukee bypassed the blockbuster market for Skubal to keep its prospect core intact while leaning on bullpen addition Romero for its pennant run.

What to watch: Peralta and the Rays open the 2026 World Series against Romero and the Brewers on Saturday.
