What happened: Pat Freiermuth, Jack Sawyer, Daylen Everette and Alex Highsmith spoke to reporters Friday. The group paired Freiermuth and Highsmith, both drafted before 2022, with 2025 pick Sawyer and 2026 pick Everette.

Why it matters: The availability put established contributors and newer draft picks on the same podium as roles continue to take shape early in the season. It also kept Freiermuth and Highsmith in focus alongside two younger defenders who have been part of recent roster conversation.

By the numbers: Highsmith was drafted No. 102 overall in 2020, Freiermuth No. 55 in 2021, Sawyer No. 123 in 2025 and Everette No. 85 in 2026.

What to watch: Watch for any follow-up role or usage updates tied to this group in the next practice and game-week availability window. Another round of media time for Sawyer and Everette would keep attention on the younger defensive pieces.
