What happened: Connecticut Sun rookie forward Nell Angloma energized the Mohegan Sun Arena crowd with a forceful left-handed layup and-1 during a 2026 Commissioner’s Cup matchup against the New York Liberty. The 12th overall pick out of France showcased her physicality in the paint as the Sun looked to challenge the Eastern Conference leaders.

Why it matters: Angloma’s emergence provides a much-needed spark for a Connecticut roster currently depleted by injuries to veterans Brittney Griner and Aneesah Morrow. While the Sun have struggled to a 2-11 start, the rookie’s development remains a focal point for a franchise navigating a difficult transition period in the 2026 season.

What to watch: Connecticut looks to snap their skid as they continue a four-game homestand, while New York aim to stay undefeated in Cup play when they host the Dream.
