What happened: EuroLeague Women said Williams received the 2026 Alain Gilles Trophy, the award for French Player of the Year. French basketball reaction to the announcement described it as the second Alain Gilles Trophy of her career.

Why it matters: The honor adds to the year-end résumé of Gabby Williams while the WNBA postseason remains in focus. A national player-of-the-year award also reinforces her standing beyond one competition, extending the reach of her 2026 season.

What to watch: Watch for whether this recognition is followed by more year-end honors as postseason play continues. Her next games will show whether the award becomes part of a longer October run.
