What happened: Ian Rapoport reported via Good Morning Football on Thursday that New York finalized the Week 7 assignment after McCarthy won over the locker room in his initial appearance. The decision gives the young passer his first full week of preparation leading the starting unit ahead of Sunday's kickoff.

Why it matters: Commitments under center coincide with wider October roster reshaping for New York, which also made moves at running back and linebacker this week. Across the field, Houston enters Sunday's matchup with offensive momentum after winning a 34-31 shootout on Oct. 18.

What to watch: New York and Houston release their final Week 7 injury and active-status designations on Friday ahead of Sunday's game.
