What happened: The Pioneer Press reported Wednesday, citing a source, that Beers suffered a season-ending injury. Minnesota listed him as out ahead of Saturday's Michigan game after he was hurt in the Sept. 12 win over the Zips.

Why it matters: Minnesota faces eight remaining games with a patchwork interior after also losing backup Brett Carroll in August camp. The reshuffle moved All-American guard Greg Johnson to center and gave Jaden Ball his first start at left guard in the 27-24 win at Washington.

By the numbers: Beers is listed at 6-foot-6 and 320 pounds. Minnesota rushed for 125 yards and allowed zero sacks with Johnson at center against Washington. Results during the injury stretch: 41-7 over the Zips on Sept. 12, 27-24 over the Huskies.

What to watch: Minnesota hosts Michigan on Saturday with Ball listed as questionable. The center rotation and left guard availability top the watch list.
