With 2 outs in the bottom of the 3rd, #WhiteSox starter Hagen Smith walks the bases loaded. His afternoon is done. Bryan Via @RuiterWrongFAN on X

What happened: Smith's outing ended with two outs in the bottom of the third after a walk loaded the bases. Bryan Hudson took over on the mound with Chase Delauter coming up for the Cleveland Guardians.

Why it matters: The move left Hudson with an inherited bases-loaded spot and no margin for another free pass. It also marked a sharp turn from Smith's nine-up, nine-down relief outing on Sept. 7.

By the numbers: Smith was pulled after 2.2 innings and eight recorded outs. His Sept. 7 relief appearance lasted 3.0 innings and nine batters, all retired.

What to watch: Delauter's plate appearance will decide whether the early jam turns into immediate damage. After that, attention shifts to how far Hudson can carry the middle innings.
