What happened: The Atlanta Hawks marked the opening of the NBA Draft, signaling their plans to add to the roster. Atlanta is positioned to make multiple selections in the first round, headlined by picks at No. 8 and No. 23.

Why it matters: Two first-round picks give Atlanta meaningful flexibility to add young talent or package selections in a trade as it shapes the roster for the 2026-27 season. How the front office uses that draft capital sets the tone for the offseason.

What to watch: Watch which prospects the Hawks target at No. 8 and No. 23, and whether either pick becomes part of a draft-night trade.
