What happened: Rookie big man Zuby Ejiofor is drawing attention for the Atlanta Hawks during the Salt Lake City Summer League. The organization selected the former St. John's standout with the 23rd overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft.

Why it matters: Ejiofor's interior dominance has quickly validated the front office's draft strategy under general manager Onsi Fields. The early returns show him outperforming higher-selected prospects, adding vital toughness and rebounding to the prospect pool.

By the numbers: Ejiofor recently posted 19 points and 15 rebounds in July Summer League action, building on a senior collegiate season where he won the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Center of the Year Award.

What to watch: Atlanta concludes its Salt Lake City Summer League schedule against the Memphis Grizzlies at the University of Utah.
