What happened: Miami stayed pointed toward the 2026-27 preseason Thursday as camp competition continued to build. The club's public tone remained emphatic with its first exhibition game approaching.

Why it matters: Miami has added Lester Quiñones and Ian Schieffelin to the camp mix, claimed Bez Mbeng off waivers and reached agreement with Dennis Smith Jr. in the past nine days. That leaves the next stretch centered on back-end roster competition and how quickly those newcomers fit into the preseason rotation.

What to watch: Watch for Miami's first preseason game and the roster decisions that follow as camp battles move from workouts into live minutes.
