What happened: The Athletic put Miami in the 'Threat of Relegation' tier of its opening-week NBA Power Rankings. Law Murray authored the ranking.

Why it matters: The label frames Miami as facing an early climb toward the league's stable tiers. Movement in future weeks will measure whether Miami answers that opening judgment.

What to watch: Miami's next games decide whether it moves out of the tier in the next edition.
