What happened: Jon Heyman highlighted Dylan Cease, Pete Alonso and Alex Bregman as his top offseason moves. The timing lands with Cease already back in the late-season awards conversation.

Why it matters: That gives the offseason verdict current weight instead of leaving it as a winter talking point. Cease's performance has already affected the 2026 race, and Alonso and Bregman remain central examples of moves that still carry September value.

What to watch: Cease's stretch-run form will keep shaping whether this looks like the offseason's best move by impact, not just by projection. Any September push tied to Alonso or Bregman would strengthen Heyman's case further.
