What happened: Hornchurch FC captain Tom Wraight has agreed to a new two-year contract, extending his tenure at Bridge Avenue through the 2027-28 season. The deal follows a historic campaign where the club secured promotion to the National League for the first time.

Why it matters: Retaining the captain provides vital stability as Hornchurch transitions to a full-time professional model. Having recently surpassed 200 appearances for the club, Wraight’s leadership will be essential as the squad prepares to compete in the fifth tier.

By the numbers: Wraight tallied 6 goals and 9 assists in 49 appearances during the 2025-26 promotion campaign. Hornchurch finished 2nd in the National League South before clinching promotion with a 3-2 victory in the play-off final.

What to watch: The Urchins will begin pre-season training in July as they prepare for their first-ever season in the National League.
