What happened: The Charlotte Hornets selected Hannes Steinbach with the 14th overall pick of the 2026 NBA Draft, held live on ABC and ESPN. Steinbach, a German big man, comes off the board in the back half of the lottery.

Why it matters: Steinbach gives Charlotte a frontcourt addition as the franchise continues building toward the 2026-27 season. He arrived in New York as one of the more closely tracked international bigs of this class, having worked the predraft circuit at multiple stops.

By the numbers: Steinbach was a fixture of the predraft process in the weeks before the draft, including a workout alongside Burries and Philon for the Warriors, and was earlier floated as a draft-up target for the Sixers.

What to watch: Attention now turns to how Steinbach fits Charlotte's frontcourt rotation and his debut on the Summer League floor.
