What happened: Carolina announced the move Tuesday. The 27-year-old joins the roster ahead of training camp for the 2026-27 season.

Why it matters: The league-minimum commitment preserves cap flexibility while widening the competition for a depth role. The added experience strengthens Carolina's insurance over an 82-game schedule.

By the numbers: The defenseman has nine goals and 46 points in 225 career NHL games. He recorded six points in 31 appearances last season.

What to watch: Training camp will determine where the newcomer fits in Carolina's defensive rotation.
