What happened: Ipswich Town have made an initial approach to sign Brazilian defender Alexsandro from Lille, with talks underway for a fee in the region of €30 million. Ipswich are among several clubs keen on the centre-back as they look to strengthen at the back.

Why it matters: The move signals serious spending ambition from Ipswich under new manager Gary O'Neil, who is reshaping the squad ahead of the 2026-27 season. A €30 million outlay would represent a major defensive investment, while Lille must weigh cashing in against keeping a wanted asset.

What to watch: Watch whether Lille are willing to negotiate and whether Ipswich firm up their interest into a formal bid in the coming days.
