What happened: PFF's season leaderboard for passers with at least 75 dropbacks has Lamar Jackson first at 9.8 yards per attempt. Brock Purdy is second at 9.5, Josh Allen third at 9.1, Patrick Mahomes fourth at 8.3 and Matthew Stafford fifth at 7.9.

Why it matters: The top three are all above 9.0 yards per attempt, creating an early gap in one of the league's clearest efficiency measures. The list also sits alongside Mahomes' league-best 91.4 PFF offensive grade from earlier this week, even with Jackson, Purdy and Allen ahead of him in this category.

By the numbers: Jackson leads Purdy by 0.3 yards per attempt and Allen by 0.7, while the 9. Three of the five listed quarterbacks are at 9.0 yards per attempt or better.

What to watch: Watch whether the order holds as the sample grows beyond the 75-dropback cutoff. Purdy is only 0.3 behind Jackson, so one strong passing day could change the top spot.
