What happened: White Sox rookie Jacob Gonzalez hit his first career Major League home run during Chicago's 6-3 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday. The 15th overall pick in the 2023 draft launched a 428-foot solo shot into the right-field second deck in the third inning.

Why it matters: The milestone highlight underscores the impact of Chicago's youth movement as the team navigates injuries to key veterans like Munetaka Murakami. The win moves the White Sox to 34-30, keeping them within striking distance of the division lead while securing a critical road victory against a top NL contender.

By the numbers: Jacob Gonzalez: 1 HR, 2 RBI, 428 FT (Season: 6 G, .231 AVG). White Sox: 34-30 record. Game Lead: CHI 6, PHI 0 (3rd Inn).

What to watch: The White Sox conclude their series in Philadelphia on Sunday before returning home to face the Tigers.
