What happened: Jake Brendel flashed his hands on a receiving play, a rare touch for an interior lineman. The UCLA product is in his ninth NFL season as of Sept. 29.

Why it matters: The play adds a bit of novelty to Brendel's 2026 start, which already includes a receiving stat line uncommon for a center. It also keeps attention on a lineman whose protection numbers have been among the league's best.

By the numbers: PFF listed Brendel with a 97.8% pass block win rate this season, best in the league among players with at least 75 pass snaps. Wire Report previously noted Brendel logged 2 receiving yards in a Sept. 11 win in Australia.

What to watch: Watch whether Brendel's receiving cameo stays a one-off wrinkle or pops up again in the weeks ahead.
