What happened: Jeremiah Fears addressed the New Orleans Pelicans' 2026-27 preseason slate following exhibition matchups against Dallas and Washington. The Pelicans guard also connected with center Yves Missi on a lob during preseason action against the Wizards.

Why it matters: Fears and Derik Queen are slated for expanded roles in the New Orleans rotation entering the 2026-27 campaign. Roster cuts this month cleared backcourt and wing space as the club waived Kobe Bufkin, Jalon Moore, Caleb Houstan, and Christian Koloko while signing center Hunter Dickinson.

By the numbers: Fears scored 16 points to lead New Orleans in its 101-97 preseason win over the Mavericks.

What to watch: New Orleans locks in its regular-season rotation ahead of the 2026-27 opener and the NBA Cup tipping off Oct. 30.
