What happened: New York Jets special teams coordinator Chris Banjo announced that Jason Sanders has won the team's starting kicker job. The franchise has moved on from Cade York as part of the decision, per @DWAZ73.

Why it matters: The decision settles a kicking competition that had lingered since June, when the Jets signed Sanders and waived Younghoe Koo before later re-signing Sanders to the practice squad in September.

By the numbers: The Jets previously elevated Sanders from the practice squad on Sept. 12 and Sept. 19. Selected by the Miami Dolphins in the seventh round (229th overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft out of New Mexico, Sanders now takes over the role full-time.

What to watch: New York will make a corresponding roster transaction to finalize Sanders' status ahead of Sunday's regular-season matchup.
