What happened: New York added Tucker to its evaluation after Jason Sanders missed an extra point and a 54-yard field-goal attempt in the preseason finale against the Giants. Sanders has returned to the practice squad following the Jets' waiver claim of Grupe.

Why it matters: Tucker has not appeared in an NFL game since 2024 after Baltimore released him in 2025. He denied allegations of sexual misconduct and later served a 10-game NFL suspension for violating the personal conduct policy.

What to watch: The Jets open the season Sept. 13 at Tennessee. Grupe remains their leading option as the team evaluates the position.
