What happened: Jewell Loyd knocked down a 23-foot 3-pointer off an assist from A'ja Wilson with 3:01 left in the second quarter, bringing the score to 40-49. The play gave the Wilson-Loyd pairing a clean half-court answer as the game moved deeper into the second period.

Why it matters: Single-possession swings matter in early-season WNBA games, especially when they come from a star-to-scorer action that can stabilize an offense mid-run. It is also another live-game contribution from Jewell Loyd as the 2026 regular season gets underway.

What to watch: Watch whether the Wilson-Loyd two-player action keeps generating clean perimeter looks before halftime. The next key marker is whether this run meaningfully cuts into the nine-point deficit going into the break.
