Wire Report IntelligenceUpdated Jul 311 min read

What happened: The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office arrested Romo on July 23 on suspicion of operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Watt will join Jim Nantz and Tracy Wolfson on CBS Sports’ lead NFL broadcast team.

Why it matters: The change comes six weeks before CBS begins its regular-season coverage in Minneapolis. Watt’s move also creates an opening alongside Ian Eagle in the network’s No. 2 booth.

By the numbers: Romo has served as CBS Sports’ lead NFL analyst since 2017. Watt joined the network as a studio analyst in 2023 and moved to its No. 2 booth last season.

What to watch: CBS’ Aug. 11 NFL media event is the next scheduled checkpoint for its 2026 booth plans.
