What happened: Assistant coach Josh Wolff reviewed the defender's performance in his initial match with the Black and Blue. Valerius entered the active rotation after arriving on loan from NAC Breda in September.

Why it matters: The transition provides new depth for the backline during the regular season. Valerius demonstrated his passing ability by logging an assist against the Houston Dynamo in his first appearance.

What to watch: The defender will look to secure consistent minutes in the rotation as he adapts to the league.
