What happened: Joshua Van submitted Alexandre Pantoja at 5:00 of round five in the UFC 331 main event at Crypto.com Arena. The victory moves Van to 18-2-0 with the flyweight title retained. Attention shifted immediately to a callout for his next defense.

Why it matters: The finish closed a two-fight title sequence after Van stopped Tatsuro Taira in the fifth at UFC 328. It settles the Van-Pantoja rematch in championship rounds. The division now turns to ordering a fresh contender instead of an immediate trilogy.

What to watch: Matchmakers are expected to set Van's next defense date and challenger. Watch for official confirmation from the promotion.
