His old deal risked a free exit in January 2028

Julian Hall will be in Europe at a big club at some point in the not-so-distant future... but he remains a key starter f Via @tombogert on X

What happened: The 18-year-old forward will occupy a U22 Initiative roster slot and remain a key starter while the club waits for the right transfer window.

Why it matters: The longer term gives Red Bull New York leverage to collect a fee if European interest produces an offer. The U22 designation also limits Hall's budget charge.

By the numbers: Hall has nine goals and five assists in 2026, earning his first All-Star selection. He has 16 goals and six assists in 67 appearances across all competitions and, at 18 years and 156 days, is MLS's youngest American U22 Initiative signing.

What to watch: Hall's starting role and any European offers will shape the timing of an eventual move.
