What happened: Jansen added another save to his late-season climb, moving his career total up again. The new mark follows saves No. 495 on Sept. 12 and No. 494 on Sept. 7.

Why it matters: The latest conversion tightens the run to 500, leaving Jansen just beyond the five-saves-away mark he carried into Sept. 13. Each successful close from here turns his next appearance into another checkpoint in that countdown.

What to watch: His next save chance would move him to 497 and leave three to go for 500. The milestone watch now follows each late-game outing.
