What happened: Klay Thompson converted his first 3-pointer as a member of the Miami Heat. The veteran guard struck from beyond the arc against the New Orleans Pelicans.

Why it matters: Integrating his perimeter spacing is a primary focus ahead of the 2026-27 season. The franchise acquired him to balance its offensive attack and provide consistent outside shooting.

By the numbers: The Pelicans hold a 41-35 advantage in ongoing action. Bam Adebayo has provided seven points and four rebounds.

What to watch: The rotation will continue to take shape as training camp progresses. The regular season tips off later this month.
