What happened: Kylian Mbappé scored his 57th career goal for France in the second half of Tuesday’s match against Senegal. The clinical finish came in the 66th minute, breaking a scoreless deadlock in the high-stakes World Cup group stage fixture.

Why it matters: The strike moves Mbappé, who recently stated he would trade personal goals for a World Cup title, into a tie with Olivier Giroud for the most goals in national team history. Reaching the milestone at just 27 years old, the forward continues to solidify his legacy as one of the greatest to ever wear the blue shirt.

What to watch: France seeks to preserve their lead as they move closer to securing a vital three points in Group A.
