What happened: The Los Angeles Lakers have incorporated dedicated L-screen actions into their half-court sets to generate perimeter spacing and isolation angles for Luka. The off-ball screening scheme utilizes angled baseline and elbow action designed to free ball-handlers off directional cuts.

Why it matters: The tactical adjustment highlights how the Los Angeles Lakers continue optimizing offensive spacing around primary ball-handlers during the 2026-27 regular season. Establishing clean screening angles off the ball reduces defensive congestion and creates versatile playmaking opportunities.

What to watch: The Lakers face the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday at 10:00 PM ET.
