What happened: Yaxel Lendeborg said he texted Steph and Draymond after the last game. He admitted still feeling nervous talking with them because of who they are.

Why it matters: Golden State is giving the newcomer early responsibility with veterans, including a start in the preseason opener. His comfort communicating on both ends will shape his rotation case for 2026-27.

By the numbers: Lendeborg — first preseason game in the Bay: 17 points (game high), 9 rebounds, 7-of-11 shooting in a Golden State win.

What to watch: Golden State continues preseason play with further rotation looks ahead for Lendeborg.
