What happened: Nathaniel Lowe came through in ALCS Game 1 after joining his club 30 minutes before the trade deadline. Parker Messick grew up less than 40 miles from Tropicana Field entering Game 2.

Why it matters: Early Championship Series results set the terms for rotation and bullpen use. A Game 2 start for a local pitcher adds crowd and travel context for the rest of the series.

What to watch: Attention turns to first pitch for Game 2 at Tropicana Field.
