What happened: Manchester United have made an enquiry and opened initial player-side talks over a midfield transfer. Chelsea have received no approach or bid but would consider a strong proposal.

Why it matters: The enquiry could develop into negotiations as Manchester United seek midfield reinforcements. Chelsea's willingness to consider a sale creates a potential route between the Premier League clubs.

What to watch: Manchester United must decide whether to submit a formal offer. Chelsea's valuation will shape any negotiations.
