What happened: Manchester United remain keen on Mateus Fernandes, with more clubs now entering the race for the midfielder, according to Fabrizio Romano. José Mourinho is said to have mentioned Fernandes to Real Madrid, and additional Premier League clubs are also showing interest. The reported price tag sits at around £85m.

Why it matters: A growing field of suitors and an £85m valuation could complicate any deal United hope to push through, while Mourinho's reported recommendation adds a European heavyweight to the chase. The continued interest builds on United's pursuit reported in recent weeks, underlining a clear priority to strengthen in midfield.

What to watch: Watch whether United or a rival firms up the interest with a formal bid, and whether Real Madrid acts on Mourinho's reported recommendation.
