What happened: The Toronto Maple Leafs recalled forward Miles Wood from the AHL Marlies. The move represents his first promotion to the NHL roster since being acquired in a trade with the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Why it matters: Toronto adds Wood to the mix for further evaluation during the 2026-27 preseason. The forward receives a chance to compete for a depth role as the club finalizes its regular-season lineup.

What to watch: Wood will look to draw into preseason action to state his case for a permanent roster spot.
