What happened: Scheifele called his teammate arguably the best goaltender in the world. He added that players must focus on what they can control regarding the situation and his own love for Winnipeg.

Why it matters: Scheifele has faced his own trade chatter, with Montreal surfacing as a suitor late last month. The dual uncertainty continues to loom over the roster as the regular season approaches.

What to watch: The organization must resolve the status of both players prior to the regular season.
