What happened: Matisse Thybulle highlighted Walker Kessler's instinct for knowing when to commit and when to sit back in the paint. He noted that Kessler shares these traits with other high-level rim protectors he has played alongside.

Why it matters: The remarks illustrate the value perimeter defenders place on interior decision-making behind them. Having a reliable presence in the paint allows wings to be more aggressive at the point of attack.

What to watch: Kessler will continue to anchor the interior defense as the preseason progresses.
