What happened: Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride was targeted by Arizona Cardinals quarterback Jacoby Brissett on third and two late in the fourth against the New York Giants. New York Giants nickelback Dru Phillips made heavy contact before batting the pass away with no flag thrown. The league suspended the official two games without pay after the exchange drew an NFLPA complaint in the Giants win over the Cardinals.

Why it matters: Phillips logged 66 tackles with 2 interceptions in 17 games in 2025 with the Giants, so he can Brissett completed 315 passes for 3,366 yards with 23 touchdowns and 8 interceptions in 14 games in 2025 with the Cardinals and still went to McBride in the clutch. Defenses treating McBride like a WR1 is why he belongs in the top 2 conversation.
