What happened: The welterweights will meet Aug. 1 in a five-round main event at Belgrade Arena. It will be each fighter's first UFC headliner.

Why it matters: Medic is ranked No. 14 and Rodriguez No. 15, giving the winner a chance to advance in the welterweight division. Medic also gets a home-country showcase on the promotion's first Serbian card.

By the numbers: Medic has won seven of 10 UFC bouts, all by finish, and his last three victories came by first-round knockout. Rodriguez owns 10 UFC wins and enters on a three-fight streak.

What to watch: Medic's early finishing pressure and Rodriguez's durability will shape whether the fight reaches the later rounds.
