What happened: Meleek Thomas checked in at home in Cleveland for his first regular-season action. His opening makes came on a layup and two 3-pointers.

Why it matters: Early minutes for a second-round pick point to an open backcourt opportunity. Sustained defense and playmaking will determine whether the debut leads to regular rotation time.

What to watch: Next step is whether he retains rotation minutes in the following game.
