What happened: Juan Soto and the New York Mets travel to Philadelphia to face Bryce Harper and the Phillies in MLB Network's Showcase game. The two National League East rivals meet with first pitch scheduled, putting two of the sport's biggest bats on the same field.

Why it matters: The Phillies enter at 40-34 and hold the upper hand in the division race, while the Mets sit at 33-41 and need wins to climb back into contention. With both lineups built around marquee sluggers, the matchup carries weight for the NL East standings as the season moves past its midpoint.

By the numbers: Philadelphia is 40-34 this season, scoring 4.1 runs per game and allowing 4.4, riding a recent 3-2 stretch. New York is 33-41, also averaging 4.1 runs while allowing 4.3, and won its most recent outing. Philadelphia is listed as a 124-money-line favorite with the total set at 10.

What to watch: Watch the early lineup cards and starting pitchers, and whether Soto and Harper can deliver in a nationally featured spot. The result swings the season series and the Mets' bid to close ground in the NL East.
