What happened: Head coach Mike Brown commended Bruce Brown's defensive intensity following a recent preseason game. The veteran guard anchored the closing lineup, which played hard and defended the ball effectively despite a few mistakes.

Why it matters: Bruce Brown, who signed a training camp deal alongside James Wiseman and Ochai Agbaji, is vying for a final spot on the New York roster. His ability to defend at a high level and provide veteran stability could give him an edge over other camp invitees.

What to watch: The coaching staff will evaluate the guard in upcoming preseason matchups before finalizing the opening-night roster.
