What happened: During Monday's All-Star Game Media Day at Citizens Bank Park, Mike Trout addressed reporters regarding whether he would ever seek a move to his hometown Philadelphia Phillies. The American League leadoff batter emphasized that while any roster decision rests entirely with him, his commitment stays with Los Angeles. The Millville, N.J. native also referenced his childhood admiration for Derek Jeter, noting the Hall of Fame shortstop spent his entire career with a single organization.

Why it matters: Speculation connecting Trout to Philadelphia persists because he grew up supporting the Phillies, Philadelphia Eagles, and Philadelphia 76Ers across the state line in South Jersey. He even joked during his availability about LeBron James signing with the 76Ers, offering the NBA star open access to his nearby golf course. On the field, his selection to start in center field marks a major personal milestone after missing the previous two Midsummer Classics due to injury.

What to watch: The American League faces the National League on Tuesday evening before MLB regular-season action resumes on Friday. Los Angeles front office decisions regarding the roster will remain under scrutiny leading into the late-July trade deadline.
